WE TAKE 5 WITH WARWICK, OUR NEW Procurement team member

Warwick joined our growing team at the end of last year to fulfil a role in procurement. He’s going great guns – negotiating with suppliers and keeping materials up to the factory and site teams. Welcome to the team, Warwick!!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Born in the early 60s at the old Mersey Bluff Maternity Hospital which is now an aged care facility. Now over the halfway mark towards my return…

Tell us about Tasbuilt’s purchasing workflow – does it fully meet your expectations?

No, but we are working on some ideas to improve efficiencies.

What is the best and the worst thing about procurement?

Best is that it is always full-on.

Worst is the supply shortages in Timber and Steel and the monthly price increases.

What negotiation skills and tactics do you possess?

There are negotiating tactics and skills that suppliers should never know about, so I can’t reveal.

Any plans in the pipeline to improve Tasbuilt’s current purchasing workflow?

Working on it… less interruptions like this blog thing would help progress on this!

If you were the CEO of Tasbuilt, what would your 5-year plan be?

Retire in 5 years.

Explain Tasbuilt’s work culture in a sentence.

One word- Circus!

And just for fun 😊 Would you rather ride a giraffe to work or an elephant? What are the advantages and drawbacks of your preferred method of transportation?

I would prefer an elephant, more comfortable, easier to get on and off (giraffes don’t have trunks)

More intelligent, they never forget the way and they live longer.

Giraffes have trouble going under overpasses whereas nothing can get past an elephant.

However having said that, I am quite happy with the Mazda though…
