Conference with Paul Akers

Staff attended Lean Conference

During March some of our staff went to a conference and dinner with Paul Akers who is a global champion of the Lean approach to business.

Lean is a method of systematically eliminating waste from a manufacturing system. By reducing waste, Lean makes it easier to identify actions or processes that actually add value to a system.

There are five principles of Lean that business leaders address.   These things referred to as ‘The 5S’s of Lean’ are a basic point for those who are new to Lean thinking.   The 5S’s are:

  1. Sort
  2. Straighten
  3. Shine
  4. Standardize
  5. Sustain

Mr Aker is one of its best known and most passionate proponents, he has personally taken the Lean message to 65 countries.
