What are the most common interior design styles?

Interior design is really the art of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a more pleasant and welcoming environment to suit the needs of the people using the space.

TRADITIONAL

Traditional interior design is typically defined as being predictable, with pieces matching and consistent; yet both cosy and comfortable at the same time. Traditional design consists of qualities such as detailed woodwork, carved mouldings, sturdy crafted furniture and graceful lines. In terms of colour, a traditional interior space is usually painted in neutral colours, with furniture pieces and other ornaments bringing in pops of colour.

MODERN

Modernising is a popular choice in interior design, and can be defined as a home with clean, crisp lines, a simple colour palette, and the use of materials such as metal, glass and steel. Modern design shares a strong link with minimalism, taking the approach that “less is more”, often creating a result that is sustainable, maintainable and cost effective!

INDUSTRIAL

Industrial interior design has the ability to combine raw and rough, with clean and streamlined textures. Features of industrial design include exposed beams and brickwork, wooden or polished concrete floors, pendant light with metal shades and exposed bulbs, and colour accents such as shades of white, black or grey, giving an overall crisp, clean look!

VINTAGE

The main concept of vintage interior design revolves mainly around the reusing and revamping of old furniture and ornaments around the home. However, it has become increasingly popular over the years, with manufactures selling artificially ageing furniture to keep up with the demand! Vintage interior styles have the ability to convey the feeling of comfort through its nostalgic charm and ornate details. Vintage style is a great solution for treasure hunters, lovers of sensational connections and patient collectors!
