Living Rooms—Living Your Way
This selection of living room photos shows a great range of images from some of the new homes we have built in Tasmania. For many people, the living areas are the key focus of a new home. There are many important decisions to be made around the design of your living area. Do you want large spaces or cosy nooks? Do you prefer open plan, or do separated living areas suit your family better? Do you need a secondary living space, for example a rumpus room, or a craft room, maybe a music room, a separate teenagers' retreat, or a more formal living area?
Another important consideration when designing your living areas is how they relate to the other rooms in the house. Is the kitchen easily accessible from the dining room? Do you want the kitchen separated from the lounge, or do you prefer the cook to be included in the lounge room conversation? Is there a bathroom nearby that guests can use without roaming the length of your home? And possibly most importantly, how do the living rooms connect with the outdoor living areas? Good flow and placement of rooms will simplify your life and leave a lasting and positive impression on your guests.
Ideally, living rooms should be sited on the north side of your home, to ensure there is plenty of sunlight in these areas, encouraging natural light to flood through your home.
