1.Have a written checklist

To give yourself clarity and a way to track your progress on this sizeable yearly task, right yourself a checklist, with every single job you need to do. That way, you know exactly what you need to do, and you can track your progress, as you cross each task off the list.

 2. Get everything you need in advance

There's nothing worst than getting part way through a job and realising there is something that you don’t have. To save yourself unnecessary trips to find some item you don’t have, work out exactly what you’ll need before you start, then gather up all the items ready for use. It also means only one trip out to get what you need, instead of multiple pointless trips just for one item.

3. Make your own all-purpose cleaner

A fun way to kick off your spring cleaning, is to make your own all-purpose cleaner. If you’d prefer to use bought cleaner that you know works, then go for it. But if you’d like a more hands-on and engaging task to make you feel that bit more excited, then take on this fun little project.

4. Do it in chunks

Don’t burn yourself out and run out of motivation. Instead, break up your tasks in chunks, and do a chunk at a time. Take a break in between to rest and revive, ready for the next task. This will keep your energy levels steady and help you to stay motivated for longer.

5. Use mood-boosting music

Enjoy that bit of a boost you get from music? If yes, you’ll be surprised with the boost you get from it when tackling your spring cleaning tasks. Choose your favourite playlist, get it humming in the background, and enjoy the little extra buzz when your cleaning.

6. Vacuum blinds

Sick of dusting your blinds by hand? Make use of that brush attachment for your vacuum, and put it to work by dusting the blinds for you. A much quicker and time-efficient way of getting that dreaded task ticked off the list.

7. Dust curtains in the dryer

Again, don’t do it the hard way. If the care instructions of your soft window furnishings allows you to, pop them in the dryer for a few minutes, give them a spin, and that’s the dusting sorted!

8. Clean kids toys in the Dishwasher

If you have kids toys, chances are they’re well loved, and probably in need of a clean. Depending on the material of the toy, pop them in the next load of your dishwasher, and they’ll come out sparkling clean. Toss them back into the toy box and they’ll be as good as new.

9. Clean cutting boards with lemon

Last but not least…are your cutting boards feeling a little grimy…or not up to scratch? Give them a little wipe over with the cut side of a lemon, and it’ll do them a world of good.

Spring cleaning may seem like that daunting annual task that your procrastinate at for weeks. But with these few tips, you’ll be a spring cleaning pro, with a few sneaky hacks up your sleeves to turn some of those labour-intensive jobs into quick and easy tasks.
